I'M FEELIN' '22

I've always been one to set New Year's intentions. And I know that some may think that's cliche, but I feel there's value in taking the time to reflect on who you are right now and who you're striving to be in the following year. Self-evaluation is a crucial part of growth! And that's the one thing I hope I never stop doing. Growing.

So, as I reflect on who I am in this moment, at the end of 2021, I want to take a second to acknowledge who I started out as, before I dive into who I want to be in 2022.

At the beginning of 2021, I was a brand new mother. So new, in fact, that I don't even remember where I was on January 1st. I genuinely cannot remember if I was in the hospital or at home. Exhausted, overwhelmed, and enamored with this new little life that I created. I had no idea what the year held for me. a move to Ohio, a new career venture and a deep shedding of my past identity, as I was reborn into this new role in life.

One where, life as I knew it was no longer easy. Less sleep, less time, less energy. More stress and most important, more love than I've ever experienced before. Yes, I am stepping into 2022 a wholly different person than I was. And I'm still learning who she is and where she is going next. But I can say one thing, I'm proud of how far I've come already.

I feel stronger in this role every day and more empowered!

RESOLUTIONS //

So, what do I want for 2022? It's a mixture of both, mindset goals and tangible to-do's.

* READ MORE BOOKS. I always have this on my list every year, but I never actually make time for it. However, there are a hoard of books that I have on my reading list! I've always kept myself too busy to make time to read, but I would really like to carve some time out for this because I love learning new things!

*PRACTICE YOGA/BE MORE ACTIVE. Over the past couple of years (between pregnancy and new baby), I've really gotten away from my practice and I FEEL IT. Ya'll, I'm only 30. I am not old enough to be having this many aches and pains already. Besides, yoga brings you so much Zen, overall, and I am craving it.

*JOURNAL MORE. Even once a week would be beneficial, to get all of my thoughts out on paper and sort through it all. We all have never ending checklists and things we want to do, but how often do we actually implement them into plans? I don't want to daydream, I want to do. And visually seeing my goals and desires will help me turn them into reality.

*LESS SOCIAL MEDIA. This one is tough because all of my jobs literally revolve around my phone and social media, BUT, I really want to be more present. Especially with my son. So, my goal is to set social media limits (and actually stick to them) and be more mindful about how much I have my phone out.

*MONTHLY ACTIVITY CALENDARS. This is something that I've ALWAYS done, but it didn't happen in 2021 for a slew of reasons. As an Enneagram 7, I thrive on new experiences and adventures and I have noticed a serious impact on my mental health since I've stopped doing this. So, it's time to restart!

*BUY FURNITURE. This one might seem like a silly one to some people, but we SERIOUSLY need furniture. We have always moved around from place to place and each time, we've "held out" for the next place and it's caught up with us in a major way. So, even though this is not our final destination, it's time to start investing in the present and buy some damn furniture, already!

*Speaking of living in the present, my next goal is to COMPLAIN LESS. I want to stop letting outside inconveniences penetrate my peace. It doesn't do any good for anyone to point out the unpleasant things that are happening, in fact, it makes it worse. Nobody feels good when they're complaining or being complained to. I want to calibrate my mindset and focus on the good!

*SHOP WITH INTENTION. This one doesn't need much explaining. I want to invest in long term pieces and buy less junk. Support local. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.

And there you have it! My 2022 intentions. What are some goals you have for the New Year? Did any of these resonate with you?
